Brief Biography | Artistic Background
Amy Florence is a London born artist working out of her studio in Florence, Italy. At the age of 17 she moved to Florence, to train at the Charles H. Cecil Studios, a classical painting atelier, where she went on to teach the advanced painting and drawing programs for 5 years. She set up Studio Donatello in November 2014, her private studio that also offers short courses and private tuition. The classical training that Amy received evolved into modern impressionism, inspired by artists such as Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Arkady Plastov, Konstantin Korovin and Walter Sickert. She is interested in the visual language of painting. Creating the illusion of form, light and life through vivacious, dappled brushstrokes.
The natural world influences Amy's life and work, she is an ornithologist and although trained initially as a portrait painter, spends much of her time painting the Landscape, and nature inspired Still-life. She continues to accept a number of portrait commissions per year and has twice exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries in London.
She divides her time between her studio in Florence, her home in the Tuscan hillside, and her family home in London, England.
Amy is represented by the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York, and also sells to private collectors from her studio in Florence.

Our Mission and Actions
At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.
By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.
Personal Statement
My artistic ambitions are to continue to paint every day. My goal is to exhibit on every continent, so that my work can reach new markets, and be enjoyed by people from all over the world. Painting is a necessity for me. I was once told that I’d chosen the hardest path for my life by being a painter, my response was that it would be harder not to, that is something I still feel strongly. Painting and creating is essential to me. It is also through the sharing of my work that I feel acomplished. To bring joy to another person through something I have created, is a rare and wonderful achievement.
