Our Mission and Actions
At THE ART HUB, our mission is initially focused on addressing a profound imbalance within the art world, specifically catering to women artists. In the current landscape, a mere 5% to 15% of artworks traded at auctions are created by women, starkly contrasted by the overwhelming 85% to 95% of works by male artists. This disparity is not only confined to auctions but is also prevalent in exhibitions, where male-created art significantly overshadows that of their female counterparts.
By concentrating our efforts on female artists, THE ART HUB aims to counteract this imbalance and champion women within the art community. This initiative is designed to amplify the visibility of women artists, making their creations more accessible to a wider audience, and ultimately striving for a more balanced representation of genders within art auctions and exhibitions. By prioritizing women in art, our platform boldly advocates for equality and diversity within the art sector, signaling a commitment to reshaping and enriching the cultural landscape.
Doris Dittrich about her Oeuvre
„I ask myself what it means to be part of and witness to the complexities of our society, western culture, human life itself. I ask myself whether being a witness is an obligation to act, a responsi- bility to react. As an artist, I see this as my mission. Art gives form to thought processes, opening up space for communication about the issues that move us as a society and me as a person. Art is a reflection of existence in the present, influenced by the past, with a vision of a possible future.
My artistic practice opens up space for contemplation and tranquillity in a slow process of de- construction of forms and images of the outside world (objective reality) and their subsequent reconstruction, charged with coded allusions, metaphors and symbols of the inner world (subjec- tive reality).
Through my artistic research, I explore the fundamental systemic questions that have accom- panied me since my childhood and which have been consolidated and further developed in the course of my university studies (social work, Celtic studies, Sculpture) and my ongoing self- taught studies (Sociology, Archaeology, Art-history).
My Oeuvre, characterised by multidisciplinarity and extensive work-cycles, alternates between social and socio-critical approaches and those that focus on a change of perspective, hope, alternative spaces of thought, indeed on „art as a beacon of society“.
