"Birth of Fear is an adaptation of Sandro Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus,' delving into the unsettling narrative of fear and distress women endure within the pervasive context of rape culture. By portraying Venus harassed by two men, the artwork exposes the unjust blame and guilt that often burden survivors of harassment. While maintaining the original's composition, the piece substitutes mythological characters to convey a contemporary narrative, creating a seamless blend of classical and Gothic styles that amplifies the emotional resonance of the artwork. PS: I have changed wind god Zephyrus and nymph, Chloris to two male characters harassing and catcalling Venus on purpose as Zephyrus according to mythology abducted Chloris, raped her and later married her. Thus I chose him as a negative character."
